Advertising Good or Bad
These deceptive forms of advertising are horrible. Did you know that right now physiologists are watching your every move? That is really disturbing. They’re finding out what makes you tick to sell a company’s product. That is one of the worst forms of advertising, but others are bad too like building brand name loyalty, immersive, viral, and buzz advertising are among other forms of deceptive advertising. Advertisers use these forms of advertising to get into your head.
Companies using psychologist to get inside kids heads is very unethical. Psychologists are supposed to help people not sell a company’s product. By doing this they’re building brand name loyalty with children as young as six months of age. The psychologist do anything they can to find out what makes you tick and when they do it’s put right out there with a kid and a dollar sign right next to that. It’s the same thing with the McDonald’s rapper. Using brand name loyalty they got kids to think that anything in a McDonald’s rapper tasted better even a carrot. This means that you can stick anything in that rapper on a fishing rod you’d be reeling kids in faster than ever.
Viral advertising would be the worst and most deceptive form of advertising. Companies are putting their ads on the computers and sites like face book and MySpace. This also means that people on these sites can send these ads to people on their friends list. Another thing that gets people to buy their product is that they’re seen before videos that kids are apt to watch. The problem with this is that when kids click on and send these ads viruses start messing with your computer. This shows that no good can come out of this viral advertising.
Buzz or street marketing is one of the most effective forms of advertising out there. It’s where companies find a famous kid star or even the coolest kid in communities to endorse their product. This is effective because kids look up to these people and say if they have it I want it. This is happening in every community and that is how companies sell their products. They’re saying who wouldn’t want something somebody cool or famous has.
In conclusion no good can come out of these deceptive and unethical forms of advertising. All you get is a bunch of underpaid people in third world countries and a bunch people buying too much of the same product. These “advertising companies could one day take over the world” as stated by Susan Linn in our SKYPE interview. If we don’t act fast soon speed bumps will be golden arches and our schools will be McDonald’s.
