Students Teaching Students

Last night me and some other students and teachers had a skype chat to talk about our International Awareness for Darfur Day. We were talking to teachers from all over about our project and another student. We were just talking about general stuff about the project. This project is going to raise awareness for Darfur which you all should know by now is a terrible place. We got the word out and we are trying to get over 1000 students to comment on March 6th and 7th. These teachers we were talking to were on a website were you could chat as you skype and we were also able to have the chat put on the internet. This project has turned into an interest to me because it is a global issue and nobody should have to live under these conditions. We also learned a lot from another student who had good reasoning for what he thought and he was supportive. This is our global responsiblity to do as much as we can to raise awareness for Darfur and to help stop the genocide in Darfur because this is the 5th year of this and more than 400,000 people are dead. So in conclusion save Darfur. Here is the weblog for mor information about the project.- Many Voices For Darfur

Animoto Proyecto

We recentlydid our exploding walls project.  This is a project where we broke down the barriers our classroom and went to the outside world.  My groups project was the animoto project.  We made 3 30 ssecond clips tying the book Animal Farm to propaganda and censorship.  The project was easy it was just hard to know what pictures to use and stuff.  We didn’t really have any description we were supposed to follow.  Other than that the project was good because it wasnt like normal projects we got to go outside our class to global issues.  By the way proyecto means project.

Today in class we had two Blair High School seniors come to our school to talk aboutthe genocide in Darfur. They came to our class because they are big supporters of save Darfur. They came to our class with a powerpoint to reallygive us a deep background on Darfur. They also told us about some of the things they have done to help with saving Darfur. They said they have done call-ins were people just come by at lunch and and call important people with a script and tell them about why they think Darfur should be saved. They also said they had a dinner with all student volunteers and all donated food. There they solld 200 tickets out of 200 ttickets for $20 a piece and raised over $1000. Finally they told us about the divestment plan that they are ttrying to get in place to get more money for Darfur. That is what they told us today.

Penguins vs. Animal Farm.

Animal farm and this penguins article have some things in common. Like how the 6 penguins from sea world ohio took over and kinda set an example for everyone and had everyone follow it. That’s like how in animal farm the pigs and horses since they were the smartest took over the farm and controlled everything and everyone and told them what to do.  That is how Animal Farm and The peinguin article are alike.
